INCLEMENT WEATHER

Occasionally, weather conditions are so unsafe, that the entire business may be shut down. This is very unusual and the President would make this determination. Should this occur, WCCO radio (830 am) public announcement system will be called so the closing can be announced and notice will be posted on PAI's web site.   Consumers, their care givers/residences and PAI staff will not be called individually if PAI is closed.  Again, you must listen to WCCO radio or visit this web site.

Should weather conditions become extreme during the program day the president may make a determination to begin transportation home early. In this event, residences and care givers will be called to make sure there will be someone home to meet the consumer when they arrive.

PAI does not close for subzero temperatures or extreme heat. All vehicles used by PAI are equipped with heat and air-conditioning. It is up to the individual consumer or their legal representative to determine whether the temperature poses a significant enough risk to warrant the consumer staying home.

Staff will make sure that consumers are dressed appropriately for weather conditions and will ask caregivers for additional clothing as necessary. If the consumer refuses to wear clothing suitable for cold weather, i.e., gloves, hat, jacket, we ask that they have those items with them in case of an emergency. To assure consumer safety bus drivers can refuse to transport a consumer if they are not dressed appropriately for weather conditions.
