The Parkway vocational experience offers paid work in a low stress environment.

Recreation/Leisure
To lead fulfilling lives, it is important for people to be involved in activities that make sense for them. Specific schedules and levels of support are based on individual needs, interests, and desires. The recreation/leisure aspect offers individuals the opportunity to build leisure skills both in the community and onsite through the development of hobbies and volunteering in the community.

Here is a sampling of some of the opportunities we offer as part of the Phoenix Alternatives experience:

Gardening Skills
This group focuses on teaching about nature, planting plants and taking care of plants while incorporating sensory activities through touch and smell. Consumers can then use their skills to connect to the community through volunteering to maintain a community garden.

Music and Movement
Learning to play instruments, exploring different genres, singing, dancing, making their own instruments and attending community music events.

Science Surprises
Exploring the world of every day items to make fun experiments, that's what this group is all about. Basic cooking ingredients are used to make items such as clay, "slime" and other sensory substances. Exploring the Science Museum in St Paul also lends itself nicely to this group.

Red Hats
Get together with friends for tea and crumpets both in the community and on-site, share stories and build fond memories.
